City of Baltimore eBonding Instructions

Vendor Registration will begin in January 2012. Plans by the City are to implement electronic bidding in the early part of 2012. 

Attention Contractors: Please contact your Surety Agent and ask them to sign-up here to begin the process, your agent will be using our software to electronically execute and sign the eBond. 

Agent Instructions:

1. Register for SurePath eBonding with IVT – Please use the “Agent - eBonding Registration”

2. Obtain an electronic Digital Signature (www.identrust.com) – instructions for Agent are attached.

3. Request participating Sureties to grant Power of Attorney status in SurePath. 

4. Make sure you are running version 3.6 of SureForm  (Contact us once you have requested your signatures)

5. Logon to SurePath.

6. Issue eBid Bond per client's instructions using a carrier with Power of Attorney in SurePath.

7. Sign eBid Bond with Digital Signature after bond is executed.

8. Email the Bond Validation Number (BVN) to contractor/client - copy and paste from Bond Details Page.


City of Baltimore Contractor Instructions:

1. Register with The City of Baltimore Bidding Automation System. - Notice -

2. Register for SurePath eBonding with IVT. (Registration form in package)

3. Request bid bond from SurePath Agent, be sure to include all the names and titles of who normally sign the bond on your request.

4. Receive BVN number from your SurePath Agent via email once the bond has been issued.

5. Enter the BVN in the space indicated in The City of Baltimore’s Bidding Automation System

Note:  It is the contractor’s responsibility to be aware of and comply with any additional Obligee eBidding / eBonding requirements other than the submitted eBond.
